Freestyle is the "glory category" in the bearding world. Contestants are allowed to use "aids"- products that stiffen, sculpt, and can form the beard into nearly any configuration imaginable. These styles can be very labor-intensive, often times calling for four or more hours of work in preparation for what may only be a few seconds before the judges.
